The Center for World Affairs and the Global Economy (WAGE) The Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) The Institute for Legal Studies and University of Wisconsin Law School with support from The La Follette School of Public Affairs, The International Practice Section of the Wisconsin State Bar, and the Madison International Trade Association are pleased to cosponsor Lecture #2 in the WAGE Transatlantic Relations Speakers Series: "Governance without Government: The Normative Challenge to International Law" by Joseph H.H. Weiler Monday, March 10, 2003 Professor Weiler (B.A. with First Class Honors, Sussex; LL.B and LL.M, Cambridge; Ph.D, European University Institute) is University Professor at New York University and serves as Chairman of the NYU Global Law School Program and Director of the Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law & Justice. He was previously Manley Hudson Professor of Law and Jean Monnet Chair at Harvard University, and Professor of Law at the European University Institute in Florence and University of Michigan Law School. Professor Weiler served as a member of the Committee of Jurists of the Institutional Affairs Committee of the European Parliament and was a member of the Groupe des Sages advising the Commission of the European Union on the 1996/97 Amsterdam Treaty. He is a WTO Panel Member and also a founding editor of the European Journal of International Law, the European Law Journal and the World Trade Review. His recent publications include The European Court of Justice (Oxford University Press, 2001), The EU, the WTO and the NAFTA (Oxford University Press, 2000), and The Constitution of Europe (Cambridge University Press, 1998).
