Martin Winckler
French novelist Martin Winckler published his first book, La Vacation, in 1989 and gave up his medical career to become a full-time writer in 1994. His bestselling novel, La Maladie de Sachs (The Case of Doctor Sachs), was published in 1998 and won the Livre Inter award in France that year. It was published in nine countries, including the United States (Seven Stories Press). An adaptation of the book directed by Michel Deville was presented at the 1999 Chicago International Film Festival a won a Hugo Award for best film. |
